Uganda targets 61% of energy consumption from renewables improving from the 4% today

The overall objective of the Rural Electrification Strategy and Plan 2013-2022 is: “To position the electrification development program on a path that will progressively advance towards achievement of universal electrification by the year 2040, consistent with the existing policy of the Government, while ensuring the displacement of kerosene lighting in all rural Ugandan homes by 2030”. During this 10-year planning period, the Government’s strategy is to achieve a rural electrification access of 22% (i.e. consumers who will be utilizing electricity in their homes, businesses or institutions) by 2022 from the current level of about 5%.
Inline with Uganda's Vision 2040 Sunmoyo has developed a project to reach 17 community markets across the country starting with the Lira main market as our pilot project. The project seeks to provide affordable , reliable and sustainable solar power for the markets and train individuals in the local communities in solar system installation ,operation and maintenance.

The Nigerian Government targets 40,000MW by 2020, this requires investments of around $US 3.5 Billion per annum.

Sunmoyo is currently in Ondo state Nigeria to establish partnerships and to develop power solutions relevant to communities in Nigeria. Our intention is to provide sustainable power in Nigeria as an incentive to commercial activities. Sunmoyo has formed partnerships with the government, institutions and individuals in Nigeria in order to deliver efficient solutions to the Nigeria power deficit.

Common to Uganda, Nigeria and the rest of Sub Saharan Africa communities suffer power black outs , unaffordable tariff rates and insufficient power for commercial use.
Sunmoyo's project design accomodates the unique challenges of every community while providing affordable power solutions that bring about the improvement of individual livelihoods and house holds.
